40 Old and Second-hand Book Fair

How was the Books’ Night and Book Day? I hope you enjoyed it a lot, seeing the activities, buying and giving books… For us it was really nice, we now have new books waiting to be read 🙂

In Komorebi we continue with books, that’s because next friday April 29th starts the 40 Old and Second-hand Book Fair in the Paseo de Recoletos. Organised by the Asociación de Libreros de Lance de Madrid (Madrid’s Used Booksellers Association), it’s one of the essential meetings for old books lovers in Madrid. Usually they do two fairs: one in spring and the other one in autumn, and I must say it’s great, in such a wonderful place as it is the Paseo de Recoletos, which is transformed in an oasis of literature during those days. And, if the weather is good, the experience is even better.

But in the fair there aren’t only books, you can find also old magazines, newspapers, post-cards (some even written! It’s fascinating to find those old words somebody wrote). The opportunities are increasing: from ancient and rarities, to cheap old books, classics and current editions. The truth is it’s impossible to get bored and, why denying it, everytime I go (and I do a couple of visits) I spend a few hours looking for books and walking, the perfect plan!

The fair is located in the Paseo de Recoletos of Madrid, and the stands invade all the space, from Cibeles to Colón. The schedule is uninterrumpted from 11 to 21h. And the 39 bookstores that participate in the fair will be there from April 29th to May 12th.
